FCS Honors Jon Pyzel, 'Icon Shaper Award'

Following the recent announcement of Bob McTavish as the inaugural FCS Legend Shaper Award recipient, it's now with great pleasure that we announce the recipient of the Icon Shaper Award; Mr Jon Pyzel. To qualify for the Icon category shapers needed to have 20 years of experience under their belt.

According to FCS, to qualify for the Icon category shapers needed to have 20 years of experience under their belt. This award is about acknowledging what’s happening now, the shapers who’re innovating and leading board design into the future.

In recognition of this honor, FCS produced this introspective with Jon where he shares his humble beginnings and those who have influenced his path to becoming a surfboard shaper. For us mere mortal surfers who don’t benefit from having time in the shaping room with Jon, it’s fascinating to hear his perspective on the board building process and how his shapes have evolved with rider feedback from guys like John John Florence.
